Monthly Minutes for January 2010
Meeting was called to order by President Bob Murphy at 8:10pm.
Roll Call showed 21 members present.
Treasury Report – Both 6 pound lunker pools are empty.
Federation report – Nick Albano informed the club that, once again, Bergen won the top chapter of the year and that a check for the 6 man team tournament fee would be mailed to Frank Freguletti. Also, the Fed notified all chapters that there will be no “off limits” on Lake Champlain for the 2010 New Jersey 6 man team tournament. Additionally, the 2010 Federation tournament schedule is; May 23, 2010/Candlewood, July 18/Hopatcong, August 29/Greenwood, October 3/Susquehanna Flats and October 17/Delaware River.
Old Business
- All members are asked to pay their FLW dues to the club as the club as already fronted the funds to the Federation.
- It was mentioned that Nick Albano was recognized by the USO as their Top Fundraiser in calendar year 2009 and was feted at a black-tie dinner in NYC. Attending with Nick & Sylvia were Doug & Claire Giachino, Bob & Suzanne Murphy and Bill Vella. Pictures of the event are on Bergen Bassmaster’s website.
New Business
- Boaters fishing the 6-man team tournament in June - Van Wettering, Vella & Hayden, at this point, are advised that they’ll need to provide proof of insurance at the February meeting.
- Frank began collecting the minimum $50 required Dues for the 2010 season. In addition, Mark announced that TBF was requiring that clubs collect 2010 FLW dues as they were switching to a calendar-based dues structure. As a reminder, all TBF members must be members in FLW.
- Nick briefed the club on the 2010 USO Tournament to be held out of Plattsburgh, N.Y. on August 29, 2010. There will be plenty of activities surrounding the event and more information will follow.
- Bob Murphy informed the club that Ramsey Outdoor will, once again, sponsor their popular Casting Blast day at both their Ramsey store and their Succasunna store. All Bergen volunteers working either event will be able purchase product (except reels and some shoes) at a 30% discount. Please contact Bob if you can help out. They’re also looking for someone make a presentation on “Seasonal Patterns”
- Nick informed the club that entry forms for Bergen’s annual buddy tournament (Lake Hopatcong) have already been printed up.
Tournament Committee
- Jason advised that the Classic will likely be moved back 1 week from the original date and will now be August 21 and 22, 2010. Further, the club will probably fish Lake Champlain launching out of South Bay.
- Jason all informed us that all permits for the 2010 season have been filed.
