Bergen Bassmasters
Monthly Minutes for September 2010

Meeting Date: 9/16/2010 Start Time: 8:10 p.m.

Minutes from last meeting accepted by: 1stJohn Ernest 2nd Bill Vella

Treasurer’s Report: Total funds of $17,634.50 consist of $214.00 for the 1st lunker pool, $0.00 for the 2nd lunker pool, $15,370.95 club funds and $2,049.55 for the Handicap Outing.

Federation Report: No Federation report as the secretary was trying, desperately, to find bigger fish on Saratoga.

Old Business: Bob Murphy gave a verbal summary of the recent USO tournament on Lake Champlain out of Plattsburgh. Congratulations go to Lance Cahoon and Scottie Mitchell for their 5th (19 pounds, 14 ounces) place finish – they even beat some notable pros (such as Gary Yamamoto and Dave Wolak). They also just missed weighing in the tournament lunker, too. Also, Dave Lipari, fishing with Jim Jeffries, finished in 11th place with a total weight of 18 pounds, 7 ounces. Bob also let the club know that Bergen will host the 3rd Annual Open to benefit the Metropolitan (NYC) USO on Lake Champlain on September 11, 2011 out of Ticonderoga. Members are encouraged to volunteer to work on Nick’s committee. He let us know, too, that the FLW event out of Plattsburgh will be broadcast on Versus on October 24, 20910 at 12:30 pm. Murphy also indicated that he would be calling a board meeting to discuss the proposed hand-out of Bergen Bassmaster shirts. He’s going to check to see if any suppliers (Keitech, for example) want to underwrite the cost and get advertising in return.

New Business: Bob mentioned that he (and other members) would be contacting a number of the professional sports teams in the area to see if they will donate tickets for a “Super Raffle”. I can’t remember if this is to benefit the Club or to benefit the USO (???). John Williams, Steve Shilling and Eddie Schickman volunteered to be on the nominating committee. If anyone is interested in stepping up to run for President, Vice President, Secretary or Member-at-Large, please let one of these fine gentlemen know. Lance Cahoon brought up the idea of staging a boat trailer parking class. This was discussed and the President suggested that we conduct the training in early spring of 2011. Lance also suggested that we look at conducting 2 one day tournaments whenever the tournament location is an “over-nighter”.

Tournament Committee: Jayson and the tournament committee handed out checks for the top finishers at the Saratoga tournament. They then conducted the Lake Hoptacong draw. All members are reminded that the tournament hours are 7:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M. Finally, our new 2011 Tournament Director; John Ernest, presented the tentative 2011 Bergen Trail:
