Candlewood Lake 2012- Part Deux

After mixed reviews from the Bergen Bassmasters' season opener at Candlewood Lake, the club had much greater anticipation as to the second coming of this highly regarded fishery just 3 weeks later.  And with news about the five (yes, count 'em- five) other club tournaments going out that same morning spreading quickly around the boat launch, the rush was on from the get-go for anglers to get their their coveted fishing spots.  Nonetheless, as the overall increase in catch numbers and bag weights showed, the lake pretty much held it's own with regards to it's reputation as a bass factory;  33 anglers fished both tourneys- total catches increased from 75 to 110 and total weight increased from 151lbs to 222 lbs from tourney one to tourney two.

In First Place, blowing the field away by almost 5 lbs, including two 5 lb-plus largemouth was Mike Rinaldi.  Mike weighed in 17 lbs, 8 oz and threw in another largemouth and two smallies for good measure- Have a day Mike!

In Second Place, with 2 largemouth and 3 smallmouth weighing 12 lbs, 12oz was Frank Freguletti.  With this finish, Frank has inched himself to the top of the Angler of Year leader board by one point. - keep it up Frank!

Placing Third, and moving himself into the same spot in the Angler of the Year standings was Scott Mitchell.  Scott bagged 4 largies and 1 smallie for a total weight of 12 lbs, 8 oz by way of senkos and spidergrubs.  Nice job Scott!

Coming in Fourth Place with a limit of smallmouth weighing 11 lbs, 10 oz was The Bass Buster himself, Billy Vella.  A tie for 5th in the Angler of the Year standings was his reward- Way to go Billy!

Showing up for the Fifth Place party hauling in 4 smallmouth was Eddie Schichman.  Eddie bagged 10 lbs, 11 oz and moved himself into 6th place for Angler of the Year honors.  Great job Eddie!

The Lunker Honors, which he could have earned twice over for the tournament, go to Mike Rinaldi, with a 5 lb, 8 oz whopper largemouth! Nice one Mike!

With some favorable pre-fishing reports coming from a few Bergen members, the club is definitely geared up for the next points tournament Saturday June 16th on Lake Champlain.   Hotel rooms are booked and weather reports are favorable thus far!

 See you there!
