Lake Champlain- Race for AOY Tightens...

Once again and unbeknownst to the Bergen club, there was some extra angler traffic in the form of an all-weekend Father's Day Tourney out of South Bay on Lake Champlain.  The heat was on, literally and figuratively as the temperature was up as was the race for Angler of the Year as only 12 points separate 1st from 5th place, both of which happen to be co-anglers!

In First Place, with a 3lb+ avg, weighing in 5 largemouth for a total of 16 lbs, 13 oz was Andy Karcich.  With his finish, Andy moves himself into 4th in the Angler of the Year standings.  Nice work Andy!

In Second Place,  maintaining his stronghold on 1st place in Angler of the Year standings was Frank Freguletti.  Continuing his season long tear with another 3lb+ average,  Frank weighed in 4 largies and 1 smallie for a total weight of 15lbs, 4 oz.  Keep it going, Frank!

Placing Third, and moving himself within striking distance (13th overall in Angler of the Year standings) of a top six finish was John Giordano.  John weighed 15lbs of largemouth for the final 3lb averagein our top 5.  Way to go Johnny G!

Coming in Fourth Place, vaulting himself to within 7 points of the top of the Angler of the Year leader board was 2010 AOY John Ernest.  John had a limit sack of largemouth totaling 14lbs, 13oz.  Nice going John!

Our 5th Place finisher was sandal-specialist John Hayden.  Weighing in a 13lb, 12oz limit of largies, John positioned himself into 10th place for Angler of the Year, well within another top six finish.  All of John's fish were taken off a single point.  Great job John!

Lunker Honors went to Chris O'Donnell with a 5lb 1oz largemouth.  I believe this is the 2nd time Chris has earned Lunker Honors-  Congrats Chris!

With unfavorably low water conditions at Greenwood Lake, Bergen's tournament committee has decided to move the next points tournament to club-favorite Lake Mahopac.  Hopefully the 3am start will alleviate some heat stress for both fish and anglers!!

See you there!
