Bergen’s 7th Annual Open Night Tournament is History
A nearly full moon, clear skies and a windless warm night proved the weatherman wrong again. Thirty Teams enjoyed the Greenwood night action on July 28th. Although heavyweight tournament limits and giant bass are now rare at Greenwood, the night shift action is always better than daylight bassin’. Even without the usual contingent from United Bass Anglers, who fished Congamond on Saturday, thirty Teams tied our record for the largest Bergen Annual Open field. Seven Teams took home a paycheck and Five Teams won Gift Packs from Frank’s Tackle in Wanaque, NJ.
As usual, certain Bergen members always step up to assist in these special events and this time was no exception. I thank Rich Gerken who did not fish, but drove up to help out and conduct the 8PM blast off. Terry Eckel delivered our Gift Packs from Frank’s Tackle at 4:30 in the morning (Sunday). Special thanks are in order for Bob Murphy. Bob assisted with the registration and blast off, and then took the entry money to sort it out at home. He returned Sunday morning with the correct payouts and set up a nice Dunkin Donuts coffee break for all thirty teams. Thanks guys!!
